2001 was an exceptionally good vintage in Rioja. Drought in the previous year meant reduced yields, resulting in incredibly intense fruit flavours in the grapes. This Reserva shows complex aromas of ripe fruit, cedar and spice, which develop into a smooth, velvety palate with powerful dark fruit flavours, hints of coffee and an almost chocolatety richness. Excellent with lamb.

Made from a blend of 80% Syrah and 20% Grenache, the grapes used to make this wine are hand picked and each variety vinified separately to preserve and concentrate the flavours. The 2003 vintage was very hot, producing a rich, intense, ruby-coloured wine. Aromas of violets merge seamlessly into raspberry and cranberry fruit flavours on the palate. Smooth, ripe tannins round off the wine, which is an excellent accompaniment to rich stews and cheeses.

An excellent example of 1er Cru Beaune made with hand selected grapes from fourty year old vines. The wine is aged in both new and old wood for 16 months and then bottled without filtration. The nose shows expressive notes of cherry, raspberry, leather and liquorice, with good density on the palate. The finish is persistent with a hint of minerality. Excellent when drunk with regional French cheeses.
