It is however, a good example of a Beaujolais cru famed for its fuller style and keeness to age. At this price we're really impressed by its complexity and length.

The Juillot family have been involved in the Côte Chalonnaise winemaking trade since the middle of the fifteenth century and each generation has inherited both the skills and passion for winemaking of their forebears and the determination to produce wines of the highest quality. A brilliant gold in colour, the nose displays floral notes which complement the ripe pear and peach flavours on the palate. A touch of vanilla, from the oak ageing gives a roundness to the wine, which gives a slight hint of hazelnut on the aftertaste. Excellent with creamy seafood dishes.

Bourgogne Côte Chalonnaise Les Gorgères 2005, Michel Sarrazin, at Majestic Wine Warehouse
The emphasis at Domaine Sarrazin is on preserving the freshness and purity of the fruit whilst maintaining the sense of terroir. This is done by limiting production though extensive pruning, a short period of oak ageing in both new and old wood and bottling the wines without fining or filtering, techniques which preserve the delicate fruit aromas. Floral notes and red berry fruits provide a crisp, fresh nose, the pure fruit flavours showing through on the juicy palate. Subtle oak provides structure to the wine, giving it a supple, rounded finish. Excellent with roast pork.

In 2001 a dozen vignerons from the surrounding villages of Tuchan decided to collectively produce the finest Fitou they could. Each proffered the vintage?s best Carignan, Grenache and Syrah grapes from their respective vineyards to produce this awesome blend. The aptly named Fitou Les Douze is a testament to teamwork, with its gloriously spicy, full-bodied flavours.

The Errazuriz property was once the largest vineyard in the world and is now the home of Chile's foremost family owned winery.
